Senior Phase (Grade 7-9)

The start of 2010 saw the introduction of a Grade 8 class to Lanner House school. This is the first step towards the establishment of our own Senior School. We will be introducting one grade per year until 2014 when our first matric class will sit their final examinations.

We have chosen to link with the Independent Examinations Board and will continue to keep up to date with the latest curriculum developments and examination information through the extensive support they offer the school.

Our curriculum is innovative and relevant and hands-on learning is encouraged. Every pupil takes part in sporting, cultural and academic pursuits. Every pupil is expected to participate fully in the outdoor education programme which is part of the weekly timetable. All Grade 7 and 8s are also given a weekly drama class which assists them with self-confidence, self-awareness and teaches life-skills such as public-speaking.

Information technology is given high priority and all Grade 8s use their own notebooks (available for hire from the school) as part of their daily work schedule. We believe that competence in, and knowledge of, information technology is essential for future success and so we use online tools and contemporary software to create new learning opportunities for our pupils.

Our dedicated teachers offer a safe environment for dynamic learning to take place. Pupils are encouraged to take risks and learn from their mistakes. Our senior phase is indeed an exciting place to be!
